ELECTION OF OFFICERS
2009-2010 Ballot

Election of Officers for 2009-2010 will be held during the End of Year Social to be held at Oakbourne on May 13.

Completed ballots can be mailed to Missy Price at 221 Gaslight Lane, Youngsville, LA 70592, or they can be brought to the meeting.
All ballots must be received no later than 10:00 on Wednesday May 13.

END OF YEAR SOCIAL

End of the year end social is set for May 13th at Oakbourne.

Please remember that each team is required to supply door prizes (either 1 $40 gift or two $20.00 gifts.) All members are invited. As always there will be round robin play beginning at 9:00 followed by annual meeting, then lunch, with door prizes given out all through the event.

PROPOSED:
The following idea has been proposed and is being considered by the board. Please read it over, give it some thought, and let your captain know your feelings. The Board would like your input.

Proposed: That there be a year end playoff between the last place team in the higher division and the first place team in the division directly below them. Winner is allowed to play the higher divsion. Loser to play at the lower division.

Rules about protests read:
Article V. OFFICERS ..."The Vice President shall rule on all protests properly submitted."
Rule 11. PROTESTS ... "A member may protest a match or the actions of another member relating to match play by submitting a written complaint or protest to the Vice-President within four (4) days from the date of the match."
Therefore, should anyone have a protest please follow the following guidelines:
All grievances are to be directly reported to your club representative. If a resolution is not met immediately, submit grevience in writing, within four days, to the Vice President, Bobbie Juneau, at 304 Dolphia Street, Lafayette, LA 70508.

Rule 9. RESCHEDULING OF MATCHES
The rule states "... the match MUST be played if the park/club determines that the courts are playable at 9:00 AM on the scheduled match day.". This means that it is not up to the captains. The club makes the determination.
Also, the rules states "The responsibility for court assignments and playing time rests with the four players on each court." Guests do not have to wait on the home team players to make initial contact when rescheduling a rainout.

The Board voted on changes to the LLTL Handbook:
These changes are to become effective with next year's season - September 2009:

Rule 7 DIVISION ELIGIBILITY (terminology change - clarification only - terminology updated 4/8/09)
7.II.B.1.b. Any team finishing in last place in its division must move down (12 players must move down to the next lower division. Remaining players must stay on the original level, go down with their team or go down to the division their team is going to).
7.II.B.1.c. Any team finishing in first place in its division must move up (12 players must move up to the next higher division. Remaining players must stay on the original level, go up with their team or go up to the division that their team is going to).

Rule 10. COURT CONDUCT: This rule will be modified to include the following:
"If player becomes injured or ill during course of play, player has 10 minutes to determine if play will continue or match will be forfeited. After 10 minutes, if player cannot continue, offending team will forfeit that court."

Penalty for late score entry will be modified as follows:
1st offense: warning
2nd offense: 8 points
3rd offense: forfeit all 5 courts

POINT PENATLY ASSESSMENTS

Captains not entering scores by Friday at noon can be
assessed points penalties.
The penalty assessments do not show up on the "standings" page, but are tracked seperately and will be subtracted from the team's total score at the end of the season. Any penalties assessed will be posted on this home page just below the "Schedules" links at the right of this page.

Your new 2008-2009 Board of Directors are:

It was a very lively and active election this year. Many thanks to all who volunteered to run for the board and to all those that voted. The elections were very close.

Ammendment #1 - passed. The office of president will be limited to two terns. The outgoing president's seat will be filled by the the then current vice president.

Ammendment #2 - passed. The duties of the office of secretary will be split between by two active secretaries. Duties will be identified by the Board and the Handbook will be updated.
Third set proposal: By an over 3 to 1 margin the proposed vote for a third set tiebreaker failed. The format for the thrid set will remain the same.
